David Luke (1921–2005) was Emeritus Student of Christ Church, Oxford. He is the translator of the Oxford World Classic Faust. He also translated Adalbert Stifter, Heinrich von Kleist, the Brothers Grimm, Eduard Mörike and Thomas Mann.
